Swollen Gums: A Call For Preventive Measures

When your gums appear to be red, tender and puffy you should pay attention to it for those conditions are manifestations of swollen gums. Swollen gums are irritated and swollen primarily because of plaque and tartar build up along the gumline and in between the teeth. Occasionally, a gum swells significantly obscuring the teeth together and is absolutely common and it involves one or more papillae. Swollen gums is a dental condition that is something you cannot afford to ignore for plaque that causes it is not removed and continues to increase its accumulation condition will progress further to severe gum disease.

Don’t wait for swollen gums to progress into periodontitis, for gum tissues and bones can deteriorate and will cause formation of deep pockets and eventually tooth loss. Preventive measures much be taken into action to control the progression of the condition. Daily brushing, flossing and plaque removal are good ways to prevent swollen gums from becoming worse. Dental visits every six months for check ups and professional cleaning, symptoms of swollen gums and other gum disease may be detected early and prevented it from progression.
